Mr. Rovelo has been a north Texas DEC member since 1999. Mr. Rovelo's international knowledge and business experience are the result of a multicultural education. He was born and raised in El Salvador and later educated in the US, France and Mexico. He has spent over 15 years in the solid waste management industry, including five years tenure with the city of Dallas, during which time Mr. Rovelo managed the city's waste reduction and recycling efforts. He later joined the pulp and paper industry working for Champion International, Rock - Tenn Company, and Balcones Resource as Recycling Manager, Director of Market Development and President of Latin America Operations. Currently, Mr. Rovelo works as a consultant, specializing in solid waste management, recycling, and environmental technologies. Also, Mr. Rovelo has been selected as advisor and consultant by the government of the State of Jalisco, Mexico, to attract environmental investments and facilitate government economic development incentives. Throughout his career, Mr. Rovelo has provided solid waste management counseling to several governments including numerous Mexican states, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and El Salvador. He has broadened his expertise by conducting research projects in the China region. His articles have been published in environmental trade journals such as: Recycling International, Recycling Today among others, in the US, Mexico and Europe.
Mr. Rovelo's company provides services in the following areas: Foreign investment (how to minimize risk,) selling and getting paid, controlled exposure, manufacturing, government communications, solid waste management issues, permits to operate, recycling (buying and selling import/export: paper, plastic, aluminum, steel and electronic waste,) over seas selling environmental equipment and technology, and cultural elements (what to do and not to do when selling internationally.)
